Hi there! My name is Somya Verma. I am a mental health professional.

After receiving my undergraduate degree in Psychology from Barkatullah University, I went on to complete my Masters in Psychology from Banaras Hindu University. After that, I did my M.Phil in Psychology from Madras School of Social Work (University of Madras). During my M.Phil. program, I worked in community, facility and private practice settings with a diverse range of clients. I work with adolescents, adults, individuals & couples in overcoming a variety of life issues such as anxiety, stress, grief, life transitions and much more. I have done research in various areas, constructed tools for assessment, presented and published my research work.

My goal is to move toward mental wellness using the tool of self-awareness. Through our interactions, we will explore your core values, dreams, strengths and a lot more to help you heal from past hurts and move towards a better future. I feel honoured to listen to each and every of my clients' stories, and help them reach their fullest potential.

While I get to learn about you, you also get to learn about me! In the meantime, here are the basic details about me: I am a music enthusiast. I love spending calm moments in nature. I love travelling. I hope to share more with you soon!

I work from an integrative approach. I believe that every client has different needs and therapy should be designed to fit the needs of the client and what works best for them.

Services

Couples & Family Therapy

Couples & Family therapy can help you with difficulties in relationships with your partner, children or other family members. You may address issues like marital problems, personal conflicts, or the impact of substance abuse or a mental illness on the entire family. These sessions will help in resolving conflicts and learning new ways of relating to each other and developing new lines of communication with each other.

Individual Therapy

These sessions allow you to explore your thoughts, feelings and patterns to create solutions to your problems. It gives you a safe and private environment to process through your stressors and triggers and learn a variety of skills to find what works best for you. Common issues addressed in individual therapy include: life transitions, relationships, identity, anxiety, depression, attachment issues, boundary-setting, perfectionism, self-esteem, self–doubt, life-balance, trauma, and communication.

Therapy may sound like a daunting process, when in reality, it is simple as:

1. Get to know each other: spend time sharing your background and story.

2. Set goals, both short & long term: continually revisit our progress on, create new goals together.

3. Launch into your life with the skills and tools you need to succeed.
